Fairfax County's multi-year project, Plan Forward, is updating the policies that guide how land is developed. Plan Forward focuses specifically on the Policy Plan which is a component of the Comprehensive Plan, the county’s long-term vision for land use. Plan Forward is an important opportunity to ensure updated Comprehensive Plan policies such as land use, housing, sustainability, and transportation, enhance the quality of life for our residents. 

Community input is critical to reflect the planning vision of community members. All county residents are encouraged to sign up for project updates and submit comments throughout the duration of Phase 2 community engagement. Community comments will inform recommendations to update the Policy Plan elements included in Phase 2 - Housing, Economic Development, Heritage Resources, Parks & Recreation, Revitalization, the Chesapeake Bay Supplement, and the Glossary.
