The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and School Board Joint Task Force on School Traffic and Pedestrian Safety was established in response to concerns raised by the Board of Supervisors, School Board, parents, and community members regarding pedestrian, bicycle, scooter, traffic, and school-zone safety throughout Fairfax County. The Task Force will provide a structured, data-informed, and sustainable approach to improving school-zone traffic and pedestrian safety throughout Fairfax County. The Task Force will develop coordinated short-term and long-term strategies to improve safety for students walking, biking, rolling, or traveling by car or bus and create consistent, replicable processes and procedures that are collaborative, transparent and sustainable for evaluating and responding to school-zone safety concerns.
