Alabama Drive Park Renovation Project
Background
Alabama Drive Park is inside the Town of Herndon in the Dranesville Supervisory District. It is located at 1100 Alabama Drive and is approximately 11 acres in size. It is comprised of a variety of recreational facilities, including two (2) diamond fields, one (1) rectangular field, pre-school and 5-12 playgrounds, two (2) basketball courts, trails and parking lot.
The Fairfax County Park Authority will begin revitalization work at Alabama Drive Park in the Spring of 2027. The project scope includes the following:
Converting the rectangular field (Field #3) to synthetic turf
Replacing the preschool and 5-12 playground equipment
Drainage Improvements
Additional Improvements as Funding Allows:
Parking lot and trail repairs
Basketball court repairs and restriping to add futsal court
New Picnic Shelter
New site furnishings
The Park Authority is committed to meeting the diverse recreational needs of the community and invites the public to provide input on the proposed scope of work.
Public Comment
The public is invited to share feedback on the proposed changes at Alabama Drive Park. Comments will be accepted starting September 10, 2026, until October 10, 2026, at 5 p.m. A copy of the comments received will be available on this page at the conclusion of the public comment period.
Additionally, we welcome community members to answer two brief questions about court configurations and other potential improvements.
