Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness

Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness

Homelessness is a serious challenge in our community, and solving it will take all of us.

Fairfax County and its partners have developed a five-year plan called The Way Home Fairfax. The plan describes how the Fairfax Continuum of Care will work to prevent and end homelessness from 2026 to 2031 across Fairfax County, the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church, and the Towns of Clifton, Herndon, and Vienna.

The plan focuses on four goals: helping people who are homeless now find stable housing faster, preventing homelessness before it happens, improving support for people who have experienced homelessness the longest, and building public understanding and support for solutions that work.

Before the plan is finalized, we want to hear from you. You can read or download the Executive Summary or the Full Report using the links just below this introduction.

After you review the plan, please answer the short questions below. We want to know whether you think the plan focuses on the right priorities and what you would change or improve. We also want to know how you would like to hear about our progress, such as through email updates, a public dashboard, or community meetings.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

The draft plan centers on three strategic goals: doing more of what works for people currently experiencing homelessness, reducing the number of people who become homeless in the first place (prevention), and piloting more innovative approaches for populations the current system struggles to serve. To what extent do you support the primary goals outlined in this plan?
