Proposed Pickleball Court at Mason District Park
Proposed Pickleball Court at Mason District Park
The public comment period for the proposed addition of a pickleball court at Mason District Park is now closed. Comments received are currently under review and will help inform the final concept for the park.
Background
As pickleball continues to grow in popularity across Fairfax County, the Park Authority is exploring ways to enhance recreational offerings and provide additional facilities. Community feedback on the proposed addition of a dedicated pickleball court at Mason District Park was collected during the public comment period, which ran from February 13 to March 13, 2025.
Proposed Concept
The proposal includes the placement of one new pickleball court adjacent to the tennis courts at the southwestern corner of the park. The proposed location is outside the minimum-required 250-foot buffer from the nearest home and would allow for existing tennis court lighting to be retrofitted to light the pickleball court as well. The project would require the modification of an existing trail, and relocation of existing utility lines.
Next Steps
The Park Authority is reviewing all submitted comments, which will help shape the final concept for the project. Further updates will be shared as the planning process continues.
