Proposed Pavilion Green Spring Gardens
Per the approved master plan Green Spring Garden Master Plan Revision (fairfaxcounty.gov), the Fairfax County Park Authority is seeking public input regarding the proposed addition of a pavilion for outdoor education and activities at Green Springs Garden.
Background
The Friends of Green Springs (FROGS) and the Park Authority are recommending the installation of a pavilion in close proximity to the Horticulture Center that would be ADA accessible, provide seating opportunities, program space and offer protection from sun and weather.
Proposed Concept
The proposed pavilion would have a 30’x35’ “split roof” style look with gutters and downspouts to harvest rainwater to capture storm water runoff. Design considerations would include minimizing earthwork and site impact, and respecting the existing drainage patterns through the site.
Public Meeting
The Park Authority will be hosting an in-person information session at Green Spring Gardens on Wednesday, January 8 at 2 to 4 p.m. to present and discuss the concept to all interested members of the public. The presentation will start in the Horticultural Center’s library and be concluded at the proposed location to answer all questions.
Green Spring Gardens is located at 4603 Green Spring Road in Alexandria, VA.
Public Comment
Public comment will be accepted in-person on January 8 at Green Spring Gardens and online. Community members are also encouraged and welcomed to submit comments below until 5 p.m. on January 30, 2025.
