Proposed Pavilion Green Spring Gardens
Per the approved master plan Green Spring Garden Master Plan Revision (fairfaxcounty.gov), the Fairfax County Park Authority is seeking public input regarding the proposed addition of a pavilion for outdoor education and activities at Green Springs Garden.
Background
The Friends of Green Springs (FROGS) and the Park Authority are recommending the installation of a pavilion in close proximity to the Horticulture Center that would be ADA accessible, provide seating opportunities, program space and offer protection from sun and weather.
The proposed pavilion is a key feature of the approved Green Spring Gardens Master Plan Revision. Designed to support outdoor education and recreation, the structure would be ADA-compliant and include seating, flexible program space, and shelter from the elements.
Proposed Concept
Earlier this year, the Park Authority introduced an initial pavilion concept through a public meeting and a 30-day comment period. Community feedback played a vital role in shaping the updated design. At the upcoming meeting on July 30, the project team will present the revised pavilion concept, answer questions, and gather additional feedback from attendees.
Public Meeting
The Fairfax County Park Authority will host a public meeting to present a revised proposal for a pavilion at Green Spring Gardens. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Horticultural Center at 4603 Green Spring Road, Alexandria.
During the meeting, the project team will present the revised pavilion concept, answer questions, and gather additional feedback from attendees.
Public Comment
Public comments will be accepted in-person on July 30 at Green Spring Gardens and online following the public meeting. Community members are also encouraged and welcomed to submit comments below beginning July 30 until 5 p.m. on August 30, 2025.
